Ruby and Paul Arrive!

And just in time for my birthday - which we spent bowling, bumper car bumping, basket ball throwing, bull riding, walking along the Nile at sunset and listening to a band we happened across in a park on the way to dinner.

You learn a lot about a person from bowling with them and if the video comes across you will all see why I fell in love with Paul – he's got the moves! As Egyptians wandered by from the wedding next door to smoke and use the toilet, they gave us the big thumbs up when we bowled a good frame. Ruby, who has a dubious history with bowling (you might all remember the bowling ball dropped on the toe incident) thought it was a blast.

While walking through Maadi we heard music and saw a group of singers in a park. Complete strangers greeted us like old friends and brought us in, arm in arm, to the stage area and seated us in the front row to listen to a choir with drums and lute singing traditional songs and dancing. It was a birthday highlight --- probably cause the young guy on stage locked eyes and he sang to the babes in the front tow. Yea - me and Ruby.

We ate Egyptian delights of kosheri, tamaya, vine leaves wrapped around rice and lamb, and pigeon stuffed with frik! All this topped off with a little ABBA, in the form of Mama Mia with a good bottle of wine – just what I needed! Paul says that finally being together was the best of all.

The adventure begins!

Amazing bowler!
Bowler extraordinaire!

I think I actually got whiplash on this adventure!

You don't see Paul cause he was bucked out of the picture so fast I couldn't capture it :)

Yea, he was singing just to me and Ruby...
